You have power over life and death. You lead people down to the gates of hell, and you bring them back up again.
For it is thou, O Lord, that hast power of life and death, and leadest down to the gates of death, and bringest back again:
You have power over life and death; you can bring a person to the brink of death and back again.
For you have dominion over life and death; you lead down to the gates of Hades and lead back.
For you have power over life and death, bringing people down to the gates of the netherworld and then back again;
For you have power over life and death; you lead mortals down to the gates of Hades and back again.
For you have power over life and death; you lead mortals down to the gates of Hades and back again.
